EVENING

Evening immediately catches attention with its intense red colour. I was inspired by Nida, Latvia, and by long, patient observation of its sky, of the redness of the sky. Every morning, every evening, I went to the seashore and watched the sky, and that redness made itself known. And this, of course, influenced the composition. Red is a difficult colour to arrange, to control, but it was interesting to wrestle with it and to overcome the challenge - one brushstroke in a wrong place and compositionally everything falls apart. In the end, red colour has been overcome. It is true that Evening is not only special because of its intense redness. The painting is interesting, because the composition of the work was adjusted in such a way that it could be viewed the same way when turned over, meeting all my imagined criteria.
